UTK-8th Grade

*All enrollment for TK-8th graders will take place online. Please follow the steps below.

1. All new students must enroll online at our AVUSD online enrollment site.

2. Call the Central Enrollment office at (760) 247- 8001 ext. 20563 or ext. 20590 to schedule an appointment to bring in all supporting documents. 

9th-12th Grade

*All enrollment for 9th-12th graders will take place online. Please follow the steps below.

1. All new students must enroll online at our AVUSD online enrollment site.

2. Call the high school in which you are enrolling your student(s) to schedule an appointment to bring in all supporting documents. 

   • Apple Valley High School (760) 247-7206

   • Granite Hills High School (760) 961-2290

You must have the following documents to enroll your student:

Child's Birth Certificate (must be an original)

Up to date Immunization Record

Two (2) Proofs of Residency are required - 1 must be a current utility bill* and the other can be from our Proof of Residency documents list, current utility bills* must be under parent's/guardian's name only [water, trash, electric, or gas] dated within 30 days. Correspondence from a government agency must be dated within 30 days

Parent Photo ID

Only a parent or legal guardian may register a child. (Grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles may not register a child unless they are the legal guardian.) If you have a unique situation, please contact our office for guidance on how to proceed.

*Please note, if you are using a print out of your online utility bill due to paperless billing, you will be asked to access your online account during your visit to enrollment for account verification purposes (Per AR 5111.1 Administration has the right to verify the information and, if necessary, conduct an investigation into the accuracy of the information provided.)

Enrollment for Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year will take place online. Please follow the steps above.

Students eligible for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025. Birth dates for Kindergarten students would be September 2, 2019 - September 1, 2020.

Students eligible for Universal Transitional Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year must turn 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025. Birth dates for TK students would be September 2, 2020 - September 1, 2021. Check out the age chart for preschool, UTK, and kindergarten students.

The window to submit new intradistrict transfer requests for the 2025-2026 school year has closed.  AVUSD may deny an intradistrict transfer request if a school and/or program has impacted enrollment.

Due to impacted enrollment, the following schools are CLOSED for intradistrict transfer requests: Apple Valley High School, Rio Vista School, and Sitting Bull Academy.

Board Policy BP 5116.1

The window to submit new interdistrict transfer requests for the 2025-2026 school year has closed.  

• The interdistrict transfer form must be obtained and signed from the resident district.

• The interdistrict transfer form is brought to the Central Enrollment Office at 12555 Navajo Rd. from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

• AVUSD will review the transfer request and notify the parent of acceptance or denial no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction for the 2024-2025 school year.

• AVUSD may deny an interdistrict transfer request if a school and/or program has impacted enrollment.

• Interdistrict transfers may be rescinded if the student’s discipline or attendance is a concern.

• If the interdistrict transfer is denied, the parent may appeal to the County Board of Education within 30 calendar days from the date of the denial.
